A HAMPSHIRE town opened its inaugural film festival last night with a heavyweight movie critic being the guest star at its gala opening.
The BBC’s Film 2014 co-host Danny Leigh opened Eastleigh’s first film festival, with crowds turning out to see him introduce three films at the town’s Vue Cinema.
The festival, which runs untill the weekend, sees blockbusters such as zombie film Dawn of the Dead screened in the Swan Shopping Centre and the Coen Brothers’ much-loved classic The Big Lebowski shown in a bowling alley.
Danny, who co-hosts the weekly show with Claudia Winkleman, said he hoped that the festival would inspire people to get involved with film.
He said: “You have got some amazing films, in some very fun, very vibrant locations.
“It's great, it’s the kind of thing that I wish I could have been involved with when I was young.”
