PEOPLE from an ethnic community in Southampton will be joining millions across the world to celebrate the life of a Filipino saint on Sunday.
Father Claro Conde will lead a service for the Filipino community in Southampton in praise of Saint Lorenzo Ruiz, the country’s first saint who was canonised by Pope John-Paul II.
The service at St Patrick’s Church in Woolston is sponsored by the Filipino Association of Southampton and will see a small procession inside the Portsmouth Road church.
It will begin at 12.30pm Father Claro will be attending a larger festival the day before at St John’s Cathedral in Portsmouth at 3.30pm and all are welcome to attend.
