Police and the coastguard were called to rescue a man in the water off the Hampshire coast.
A spokesman for Solent Coastguard said it was called at 5.43am yesterday to reports of a man in the water at Barton on Sea.
Lymington coastguard officers and the Mudeford RNLI lifeboat were also called in along with the police helicopter.
The casualty was recovered and treated by the ambulance service.
