THE sister of a teenager who brutally attacked a pensioner in her own home has spoken of how he has regretted his actions ever since it happened.

Speaking on behalf of the youngster who was 13-when he viciously assaulted Frederika Ogborn, his half sister Shirley said he had tried to put his past behind him and move on.

As reported by the Daily Echo, Frederika was left traumatised after the attack on 2009 which left her bloodied and bruised.

The attacker was given a supervision order and told to move away from the area, as he was deemed too young to be jailed for the assault.

Despite fears that he had moved back to the community where his victim still lives, Shirley said that her brother was living in Swindon and only came back to the Shirley Warren area in Southampton to visit his mum.

Speaking for her half brother, who is now 19, Shirley said: “He doesn’t want to cause the woman any more upset. He is so regretful of what he did to her. It was a mistake, obviously it was a really big one, but he was drunk at the time.

“He is really sorry for what he did.”

Shirley said that her brother had moved out of the county for three years in with his father, in line with the order. Just over a year later his dad died. Since then he has been trying to turn his life around, she added.

She described how he was now training to be an electrician and had already earned some qualifications towards it.

“He made the biggest mistake of his life. He feels really guilty about it. Since then he has had to deal with the death of his dad but despite all of that he is trying to turn his life around.”

As previously reported the attack on 72-year-old Frederika happened when the 13-year-old burst into her home armed with a knife. He then repeatedly hit her around the head and stomach whilst demanding the PIN for her bank account.

He was given a three year supervision order as the judge at the time said he was too young to be jailed.
