THE decision date on whether to build a 74m wind turbine at Sparsholt College has been pushed back.

The original date was October 13, but it has been moved to January 15.

A Winchester City Council spokesman said: “It has been extended because an environmental impact assessment has been submitted to support the application and so we have consulted neighbours and other consultees again.

“The application will go to committee for a decision in due course.”

Sparsholt Parish Council has opposed the plans due to an alleged lack of consultation, visual impact, threat to wildlife and aviation, and noise.

The college says that the turbine would teach its students about sustainable technology.
