HAMPSHIRE’S up and coming musicians, DJs and promoters have been given a £50,000 boost.
Southern Co-operative awarded the funding to an initiative that aims to help 14- to 24-year-olds into the music industry.
Portsmouth Cultural Partnership’s Get into Music, Portsmouth scheme has already gained support from live entertainment venues, promoters and arts organisations from across the county to help young people gain knowledge of the industry.
The announcement was due to be made at the cultural partnership’s first Get into Music Day today, which was attended by 200 students, including 49 from Richard Taunton Sixth Form College.
The event also featured talks from Dan Smith, singer, songwriter and producer of Bastille; Iain Marin, former promoter of Mumford & Sons; Andy Ellis, from PRS for Music; and Stuart Ongley, from SGO Music Group.
