Driving instructors are doing their bit for the BBC charity appeal Children In Need.
They are taking part in the first event of its kind with their pupils – a 2,100-mile relay across the UK.
The national fundraising mission is the brainchild of New Forest-based instructor Louise Walsh.
Those representing the south will include Richard Watson from Richard Watson Driver Training for people with disabilities in Southampton, Blaine Walsh from BLOU driving school in Lymington and Rebecca Eyles from Lockerley Driving School near Romsey.
Dubbed the Big Learner Relay the event started last Thursday and involves drivers ‘carrying’ a baton – a specially designed rooftop box – from Northern Ireland to the finishing point in Birmingham for Children In Need day on Friday, November 14.
The relay will be coming to Halfords car park in Hedge End at 5pm on Sunday, November 9, from where the baton will then travel to the Sainsbury’s car park in Lordshill for 6pm. Driving instructors are still needed for the event, and anyone interested in taking part can visit biglearnerrelay.co.uk.
