HUNDREDS of people gathered at services across Hampshire today to mark Remembrance Sunday.

From Southampton to Winchester and Eastleigh to Lymington, wreaths were laid at Cenotaphs and memorials across the county this morning.

And this year's event was given extra poignancy as it is the centenary of the start of the First World War.

Daily Echo:

In Southampton, the service at the Cenotaph was led by Mayor Sue Blatchford, the Bishop of Southampton the Rt Rev Jonathan Frost, Rev Julian Davies from St Mary's Church and Monsignor Vincent Harvey.

Veterans joined cadets, current servicemen and dignitaries in laying wreaths at the city's Cenotaph before a parade along Above Bar.

Daily Echo:

In Winchester, a service of remembrance took place at the Cathedral, while there were also special commemorations in Eastleigh, Lymington, Fareham and Lyndhurst.
