THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised by the community so the friends and family of a Hampshire dad missing in Prague can continue their search.

Karl Law was last seen with friends more than four days ago while on his cousin's stag do in the Czech Republic on Saturday night.

The 34-year-old's brother Craig and cousin Steve have stayed in the city and are desperately searching for him with the help of police and the British Embassy who have been checking hospitals and trawling through CCTV footage.

Another cousin, Lee Cross, and close friend Lee Jefferies flew out to the European capital to help roam the city handing out posters, make TV appeals of Czech TV and follow up any sightings they are made aware of through social media.

Mr Jefferies said the support from people back home has been overwhelming and thousands has been raised so that the group can stay in Prague and continue looking for the dad-of-one.

More than £1,000 of the cash came from a fundraising event held at the Hoeford Pub in Gosport Road, Fareham last night. Another event will be held at Hill Park Working Men's club, Fareham, from 7pm Friday.

Craig, 30, previously told the Daily Echo the father-of-one was last seen outside the Maxim Bar in Old Town Square on Saturday night about midnight.

It was after they returned to the Jury's Inn hotel where Craig was sharing a room with Karl that he noticed he was missing.

He said: “We just assumed that he went to get some food. I fell asleep and just thought he would walk in at some point. I woke up in the morning and he wasn't there.”

The next morning the group mounted a search to find the builder before some of them returned home.

More than four days later and he still hasn't been found.

Karl's close friend Lee arrived in Prague yesterday to help with the search.

The 37-year-old builder from Fareham said: “As soon as I heard I wanted to come and offer my support.

“There has been no news but sometimes no news is good news so we're all remaining positive.

“Back home the support has been overwhelming. It's testament to how much Karl was loved and we're certainly feeling the support from back home.

“We're out here until we find him.

“We liaised with the police today. They're trying all they can. They've contacted all the hospitals and they're trying to look through all the CCTV but it's difficult because it's not like ours back home.

“The news is certainly out there and all this media attention is certainly helping.

“It's not just people who are here. People back home in their countries from a party weekend may have seen something too.

“As you can imagine, it's a very difficult time for his family. I know they're remaining strong and there's a lot of support for them.”

Mr Law, pictured on the night he went missing, did not have his passport with him but had around £100 in Sterling and 2,500 Koruna - around £70 - on him.

Craig said Karl lost his mobile phone on Friday night.
