Cinderella and Prince Charming make a dramatic entrance when they light up a Southampton shopping centre tonight.

The fairytale couple will arrive at Marlands in front of a shimmering glass carriage backdrop before switching on its Christmas lights.

Kathryn Rooney and Chris Ellis-Stanton who star as the lovers in this year’s pantomime at the Mayflower Theatre will be joined by a collection of other magical characters for the ultimate festive party.

And they are inviting children to join in the fun by dressing as a Disney character to win the once-in-a-lifetime chance to help them turn on the lights.

Stilt-walking ice fairies, a balloon modelling princess and comedy performers are among the stars at the extravaganza hosted by Heart Radio’s Dan Mills.

The extravaganza of free family entertainment also features free face painting, gifts and competitions.

Anyone who guesses how long it takes for ice to melt in an ice sculpture of Cinderella’s slipper to reveal her magic wand hidden inside can win VIP tickets to The Mayflower for four, a pre-theatre meal, limo ride home and champagne.

The celebrations run from 4pm-7pm and the lights will be switched on at 6pm.

The best-dressed child will also win vouchers to the Disney Store.
