A NEW video featuring the son of a Hampshire man been released by Islamic State (IS).

The footage showing British hostage John Cantlie is the sixth ''episode'' in a series titled Lend Me Your Ears and follows a similar pattern to previous instalments, with Mr Cantlie wearing an orange jumpsuit and delivering an apparently scripted message from behind a desk.

The clip, which lasts for almost nine minutes, opens with the 43-year-old photojournalist giving an account of what he claims was a failed rescue attempt by American forces in July.

As reported, the 43-year-old John, a photojournalist, has been held by Islamic State (IS) extremists since 2012 and is the son of Paul Cantlie, 80, from Droxford (see below).

Daily Echo:

The pensioner died ''from complications following pneumonia' days after making an emotional plea for his son to be released.

He recorded an impassioned video message for his son John's captors, calling on them to give the hostage up, but died without knowing if his son ever saw it.
