MEMBERS of Milton Abbey School’s Combined Cadet Force celebrated receiving Lord Lieutenant’s awards for dedication and long service in a ceremony in Dorchester.

Cadet Sergeant Ryan James Parker was one of the four top cadets in Dorset invested as the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for the coming year.

Ryan was presented an award at a ceremony at South Walks House in Dorchester and will now accompany the Lord Lieutenant at various occasions including royal visits and civic ceremonies.

Judges said the youngster was selected for the honour ‘due to his dedication and enthusiasm both within and outside cadet activities’.

Commander Robin Nicholson was also recognised and was awarded the fourth clasp of the Cadet Forces Medal along with a Gold Rosette, both of which are given to officers and uniformed adult instructors in recognition of long service.

The medal is awarded after 12 years’ service, with six years of service required for each subsequent clasp.
