A Hedge End boiler maker died after being exposed to asbestos during a career which saw him work on the QE2 and at Fawley Oil Refinery.
The inquest heard how Peter Phillips developed a fatal lung cancer, dying at his home in Lewry Close on August 9 this year.
A statement by Mr Phillips, which was read to the inquest, told how he would shake asbestos dust out of his hair while helping carry out a refit on the luxury liner.
Senior Central Hampshire Coroner Grahame Short recorded a verdict of death due to an industrial disease.
