FIVE people have been arrested in connection with an unprovoked attack that left a man seriously injured.
The victim was rushed to hospital with severe head and facial injuries after the incident in St Cross Road, Winchester.
A 35-year-old man told police he was walking towards Ranelagh Road with a friend at around 3.35am when they were approached by a group of four men and a woman.
Police say some of the group attacked the two men, leaving one injured on the ground. He was taken to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital for treatment following the assault in the early hours of November 14.
Hampshire police today revealed that five people have been arrested and are being questioned. They are a 22-year-old man, three 21-year-old men and an 18-year-old woman.
