HE IS a little boy with a huge dream – to walk.

A Daily Echo-backed campaign to see James Mills take his first steps has now raised almost £16,000.

Echo readers are rallying to help the two-year-old have a life-changing operation, and a further £500 was added to the fundraising total at a raffle and disco night at the weekend.

Devoted mum Vicki is on a mission to save her son with the help of people across Hampshire by raising £50,000.

James has cerebral palsy and needs the operation to walk – surgery that isn’t available on the NHS.

His family hosted their latest fundraising efforts at a night at The Roebuck Inn in Marchwood which helped raise £500 towards the cause.

Next year Vicki is organising an event at Dibden Golf Course in February where shirts from major Premier League stars and dozens more luxurious prizes will be up for grabs.

Shirts from football giants like Chelsea and Manchester City, including signed goods by former England stars Frank Lampard and John Terry, and Chelsea hotshot Diego Costa, are among the items on offer.

Vicki, 27, from Hythe, said: “The night went really well and I can’t wait to plan an even bigger event next year.

“I am just completely overwhelmed by the support from everyone. The Daily Echo has been amazing and really kept me going.

“The fact that so many people are rallying together to help my son’s wish come true is just magical and I am so excited to be offering people lots of treats and still help James.”
