A MAN suffered a suspected broken nose following a day-time high street attack.

Hampshire police are appealing for witnesses after a 21-year-old was assaulted by an attacker who tried to headbutt him, and them punched him in the face.

A woman tried to intervene the incident but those involved dispersed, police say.

The victim was treated in hospital for a possible broken nose and is now back home.

The incident happened outside the Marks & Spencer store in High Street, Andover, on Tuesday at around 4pm.

A 17-year-old from Andover was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was bailed until January 16.

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident and in particular the woman who attempted to intervene.
