HE may be just seven years old – but he has an eye for detail that people more than three times his age can only dream of.

Oliver Andreas Jones first demonstrated his photography talents at the tender age of three when most children are just colouring in pictures.

Now the Hampshire schoolboy has captured the imagination of a leading camera firm Ricoh Imaging UK with his fantastic images and they have snapped him up as their youngest ambassador.

They have even entrusted him with some of their most high tech equipment which he has taken the stunning landscapes pictured.

Oliver has just returned from a trip of a lifetime to the Arctic where he has been photographing the Northern Lights and meeting Father Christmas.

Oliver, from Gosport, took inspiration from his professional photographer father Mark who gave him a drop-proof camera to play with as a three-year-old.

But Mark, who owns Andreas Jones Photography, only discovered the extent of his young son’s potential when he accompanied him on one of his regular landscape trips.

The 43-year-old said: “We took some photos – he did his all on his own with his mum’s point and shoot camera – and when we got home, I was amazed at his composition.”

Oliver soon got to grips with a second-hand digital SLR – accompanying his father to Devon, Cornwall and the Lake District – where he met survivalist Ray Mears.

Eventually Ricoh spotted his stunning images of British landscapes and invited him to join them.

Mark said: “I was gobsmacked. Oliver is really good at his landscapes, which is primarily what I do, and we got an email from Ricoh saying they thought his images were really interesting.”

The company, which produces Pentax cameras, had provided him with its flagship K50 camera for the trip to Lapland and Iceland.

The deal involves the Peel Common Junior School pupil sending the company at least four photos a month.

Oliver, who rounded off his trip by holding a presentation for classmates, is also keen on joining the police.

He said: “I like taking photos because I get to see lots of different places – my favourite was Iceland because it was nice there.

“We saw the colour purple (during the Northern Lights) which I really liked.”
