TRESPASSING ponies in a New Forest village will be a thing of the past thanks to a new cattle grid.

The Veolia Environmental Trust has awarded £4,312 to the Woodgreen Village Hall committee to fund the new grid, which will be installed near the hall on Hale Road.

It will prevent the ponies from entering the hall’s grounds and leaving waste in areas which are used by groups including pre-school children.

Committee member Julia Wilkie said: “A variety of different groups and organisations can use the hall on a regular basis.

“The cattle grid this grant will fund will mean that we can keep the area around the hall, which is used throughout the year, clean and tidy.”
