AN investigation has been launched after police found a body beneath a Southampton bridge.
Police were contacted over a concern for welfare of somebody on the Itchen Bridge at around 4.45pm.
And officers discovered a body below the bridge on the Southampton side upon arrival, although it was not in the water.
The bridge was shut for around two hours to allow police to carry out a full investigation.
It has now reopened.
No details about the person have been released at this stage.
