A lorry driver, who had lost his job and his lodgings, committed suicide in the lay-by, an inquest heard.
The body of Paul Day was found in the driving seat of his Peugeot car on the afternoon of May 25, in Southwick.
Post-mortem tests revealed that the 53-year-old had taken an overdose of a prescription medicine.
A Winchester inquest heard how Mr Day, who had changed his name by deed poll from Paul Treagust, was diabetic and had a history of depression.
Recording a verdict of sui-cide senior Central and South Hampshire Coroner Gra-hame Short said: “I am sure this was a deliberate act.”
