A MAN has been arrested after a cyclist was killed on a Hampshire road.

The A3 southbound carriageway was closed for several hours yesterday after a 32-year-old cyclist died after a multi-vehicle collision a few miles south of the Hindhead tunnel near Liphook.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and have today confirmed a 33-year-old man from Waterlooville has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and attention.

He is being questioned by police.

The victim's next of kin have been informed and formal identification procedures have yet to take place.

A post mortem is due to take place today.

Sergeant Darren Ord said: “We are appealing to motorists who were using the A3 yesterday morning at around 7.30am to come forward with any information they may have.

“We continue to speak to witnesses to establish the exact circumstances of the collision.”
