SHE has come a long way from her BBC weathergirl days when her face was beamed into the living rooms of thousands of homes across Hampshire.

Dressed in an off-white Peshwaz gown with a red brocade border, Reham Khan stands proudly next to her new husband – one of the most prominent politicians in Pakistan.

After much speculation about her wedding to cricketer turned politician Imran Khan, photographs of the happy couple dressed in their finest have been released to confirm the union.

The 62-year-old’s marriage to the 41-year-old divorced mother-of-three caused a political storm in Pakistan, where Khan is chairman of the Tehreek-e-Insaf party.

The nuptials, an Islamic wedding ritual known as a nikah, are thought to have taken place several weeks ago.

It is understood that it was a simple ceremony to honour the 145 victims of the terrorist attack on a school in Peshawar last month.

In a tweet, Reham thanked well wishers, “Thank you for all your kind wishes. We would appreciate that instead of sending us presents if you could donate to SKMT Peshawar”.

Reham, who is currently working as a presenter on Pakistan television, was a popular face on South Today.

She was born in Libya to Pakistani parents, a doctor and lawyer, and has three children from her previous marriage to a doctor.

Reham joined the BBC in 2008 and became a popular figure on local television presenting the weather.

She worked for the BBC for four-and-a-half-years before she decided to resign in 2012, moving to Pakistan to cover the historical 2013 Pakistani general elections.
