AN experienced RSPCA inspector has today spoken of her shock and disgust at the dumping of nine neglected dogs, two of whom are very ill.

Inspector Jan Edwards said vets with long experience had been affected by the incident.

She said: “This is the worst case I have ever seen. Even if just one of these dogs had been found in this state I would be appalled, but to find nine of them all in such a bad way is incredibly upsetting.

“Everyone who has seen these dogs, even the vets, are shocked by their appearance.

“Their fur was so matted that all the vets have worked tirelessly to clip them. Some of the dogs were even struggling to walk due to the weight of their fur.”

Insp Edwards urged the public to come forward with any information about who dumped the animals.

“As always we are reliant on the public to be our eyes and ears so if anyone thinks they may have any information about how these dogs came to be dumped in this sorry state they can ring our inspectorate line on 0300 123 8018.”

She has been assisting the council in getting veterinary treatment for the dogs.

Two are at vets receiving specialist care as they are in a very poor state, the rest have been moved to council kennels at an undisclosed location.

Once the council have signed them over, the RSPCA hopes to rehome them with experienced owners who can give them the time and attention they need.

This will take some time as it will need to be once they are well enough.

Eight of the dogs appear to be aged around one and a half years old with one slightly older - about three years.
