ROMSEY MP Caroline Nokes has received an online message from a Fathers4Justice supporter wishing that she was "left for dead somewhere after being raped".

Leicestershire police have today confirmed to The Daily Echo that a 51-year-old man had been cautioned under the Malicious Communications Act after he posted the comments on her Facebook page.

In the message, which Ms Nokes has made public, he writes: “Caroline you deserve to be violently raped.

“And I mean that. I hope you are. I hope you are left for dead somewhere after being raped.

“Woman like you get what is coming to them.

“There are a lot of people who wish you serious harm, torture and death. Watch your back.”

Following his caution for the message, the 51-year-old wrote a letter of apology to Ms Nokes.

In the letter he claims he was incited by the social media page of the dad’s rights campaigners.

He said: “At the time that I sent the message, I was following the Fathers4Justice Facebook page.

“It was an area of interest for me, purely because of 50/50 shared parenting rights and equal opportunities.

“However, I got myself wound up by utter hatred that came from this page.

“I lashed out. unfortunately you were forced to bear the brunt.

“That was absolutely unforgivable at me.”

Speaking to the Daily Echo Ms Nokes said: “It’s been a horrific experience. No-one deserves to receive messages telling them they will be raped.”

The MP for Romsey and Southampton North claims to have been the victim of cyber bullying from some Fathers4Justice supporters.

This has led to the mother-of-one having a panic alarm fitted and locks changed.

But Fathers4Justice say they are unaware of any police investigation and arrests and denied any of their members were involved.

A statement from the group said: “You might find lively, robust debate about the issues, but never anything that could qualify as ‘hatred’.”
