She will be the largest cruise ship ever built for the British market. And her home port will be right here in Hampshire.

When P&O’s Britannia sails into Southampton on Friday March 6 she will create more than a little buzz with her striking union Flag design hul and promise of something new, something special in which to take the holiday of a lifetime.

Now the Southern Daily Echo has teamed up with P&O, who are based in Southampton, to offer the chance for five lucky readers and their guest to visit Britannia before she sets sail on her maiden voyage.

The winners of this exclusive competiotion will enjoy touring the fantastic Britannia before savouring a sumptuous three course lunch in the ship’s main dining room.

The visit will take place on Friday March 13 just prior to Britannia’s departure on her maiden voyage.

Britannia is the biggest ship built for the British cruise market, and will offer a sophisticated, contemporary holiday experience across health and beauty, shopping and entertainment with a strong focus on dining.

Special features include The Cookery Club, a 24 person state-of-the-art cookery school developed in association with James Martin; a three-tier feature atrium with Eric Lanlard patisserie, a charcuterie and gelateria as well as spectacular Star Burst sculpture. The Sindhu restaurant by Atul Kochhar and Olly Smith’s The Glass House offer sumptuous dining experiences and Britannia will feature gala menus created by Marco Pierre White.

Other attractions will include The Limelight Club, a combined entertainment and dining venue in the great tradition of the supper club.

Britannia’s maiden season will see the ship sail from Southampton to the Mediterranean, Norwegian Fjords, Canary Islands and the Baltic Sea, as well as offering a range of short breaks and a special round Britain cruise. The ship will then transfer to the Caribbean for the winter season sailing a range of 15 night fly/cruise itineraries from Barbados.
