FIRE has broken out on a cruise ship that set sail from Southampton.

A blaze broke out on Fred Olsen's Boudicca at around 4am today as she sailed off the coast of Casablanca, Morocco.

The fire was in the engine room and has since been extinguished.

The ship listed for a short time but is now fully stable.

The ship is carrying 784 guests and 356 crew on board and the firm said today it has kept everyone informed of the situation.

The ship is now on the move again with three auxillary engines and two main engines running.

No one was injured in the incident.

The ship left Southampton on Tuesday and sailed from Cadiz, Spain, yesterday.

It is scheduled to arrive in Arrecife, Lanzarote, tomorrow.

A Fred Olsen spokesman said: "The safety of all guests and crew on board Boudicca is Fred Olsen Cruise Line’s utmost priority, the ship will liaise with the relevant maritime authorities, should any need emerge. "

The Boudicca is currently on an 18-night Cape Verde and the Canaries cruise.
