Plans to build 150 houses in Bishop’s Waltham have been submitted to civic chiefs.

Albany Farm, 29 acres of agricultural land between Winchester Road and Woodlea Nursery, would be built on if the scheme is approved.

Southcott Homes has filed the outline application which, if granted, would result in 650 new houses in the town by 2031.

Winchester City Council has allocated sites for 500 homes in its housing strategy for the next two decades.

Three residents have complained about Southcott’s plans already, raising concerns about traffic congestion and the suitability of more housing.

Architect Pope Priestley hopes to maintain the “semi-rural character” of Winchester Road, it said in a design report.
