THIEVES stole jewellery with sentimental value from an elderly couple.

They got into a home in Cox Row, Chandler’s Ford, taking a wedding ring, a gold ring and watch, and a 16in to 18in gold-effect plaited chain necklace, as well as £280 cash, while the owners, a couple in their 80s, were out.

The wedding ring, a plain gold band, belonged to the woman’s late aunt so had great sentimental value.

The gold watch had belonged to the woman’s mother, given to her by her husband when he returned from the Second World War.

The wind-up watch had a brown leather strap and a round face with maker Regency printed on it.

The gold ring, which had a red circular garnet set in it, set in a gold lacework effect setting, was given to the woman by her husband.

Police would like to hear from anyone who knows anything about the burglary, which happened on January 22, between 10.45am and 12.15pm, or anyone who has in their possession any of the items.
