There is still 24 hours to go to sign up to The Haven in Wessex £1 Million Tea Party to ensure people with breast cancer across the south do not have to battle the disease alone.
The week-long event will raise enough money to help fund the running costs of a specialist centre in Titchfield currently being renovated where anyone diagnosed with the disease can access support for free.
Already £1.5 million has been raised but to fund converting the building into a haven and initial running costs there is £1m to go – and the charity needs your support.
Celebrities including BBC Radio 1 DJ Matt Edmondson, South Today’s Sally Taylor, actress Sarah Parish and the cast of the Circus of Horrors have backed the campaign and urged everyone to join in – and anything goes.
All ages from schoolchildren to pensioners will come together from this Monday until Monday, February 16 for a cuppa and a cake ahead of the grade II listed building The Haven opening in autumn.
Those who cannot host big parties are being urged to drink, dunk, donate and snap it by taking a selfie with their favourite cup of tea before donating via text to the Hampshire charity.
Anyone who has been affected by breast cancer will be able to self-refer to The Haven.
Here they will be able to talk to experts about everything from financial worries to nutrition, meet others battling cancer and receive a tailor-made programme of complementary therapies such as yoga and acupuncture.
Sally Taylor, who is the chair of The Haven in Wessex appeal committee, said: “Anybody of any age can take part in The Haven in Wessex tea party – friends, work colleagues, mums, schools, absolutely anyone.
“Just take some time out, drink tea, eat cake and raise money for charity – it really can’t get any better than that.”
