A PENSIONER who crashed into a bench in a busy city street has died.
The 69-year-old driver had been taken ill behind the wheel of his Hyundai IX35.
He was taken to Southampton General Hospital after his car veered off the Shirlely High Street on to the pavement near Morrison’s supermarket and outside the Carphone Warehouse.
The incident happened at about 11.30am on Tuesday.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
