Sporting hair dyed in every colour of the rainbow with black nail varnish and eyeliner more than 1,500 people headed to the University of Southampton for the annual Takedown festival.
Bands from across the region graced the stage at the Student’s Union on the Main Campus for the day-long festival which is now in its sixth year.
Since its inception it has become an unmissable date in the UK’s alternative festival season diary.
Acts with names like The Hell and Seething Akira whipped up the crowds into a storm, filling the five stages at the University Road campus with sweat as their dancing became more energetic.
But crowds were waiting to see headliners Mallory Knox return to the festival after opening the main stage two years ago and who didn’t disappoint, performing music from their latest album.
Solo singer Charlie Simpson, better known as the voice of Busted and Fightstar, fought off his Pop past to perform.
Chief organiser Kai Harris, said the day had been a success and that plans were already in place for next year’s festival on March 5.
He said: “We have had massive support from local artists and regional bands. The majority of small acts are from this region. This year has been really successful, we’re already on course for next year with early bird tickets on sale now.”
