MORE arrests have been made as part of a major police operation into a series of burglaries.

Officers from Hampshire Constabulary executed seven warrants in Southampton this morning in the second phase of an operation that saw 16 people arrested at addresses across the city on March 3.

50 officers were involved in this morning's raids in a response to a series of burglaries along with a string of thefts of motor vehicles in Southampton over the past six months.

Four further people have been arrested today on suspicion of conspiracy to steal, bringing the total number of arrests to 20.

Those arrested are four men aged 18, 19, 26 and 32 from Southampton. They are currently being questioned by police.

Superintendent James Fulton from the Southampton District said: “We will not rest and will continue to proactively target those suspected of committing this type of offence which brings misery to residents and visitors in the city.

“Anyone with information about burglary or vehicle crime in their area should contact their local Neighbourhood Policing Team by calling 101.

“We are aware that you may not always want to speak to the police but you can also give any information you have to Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.”

Those arrested during the first phase of this operation remain on bail pending further enquiries until June 9.
