TOGETHER they were united in grief for a son, friend and brother.

More than 100 mourners kept an evening vigil in memory of 19-year-old Jordan Wickington who died after he was knocked off his bicycle in Southampton.

They congregated at the Royal Victoria Country Park in Netley to share their memories and hold a minute's silence.

Jordan's father Glenn and sister Laura joined the event which was organised by Jordan's best friend Matt Cooke. The boys had been pals since meeting in Year seven at Hamble Community Sports College.

Matt, a 19-year-old carpenter apprentice, has had the words In Memory of JW' tattooed on his forearm, while another friend, Nathan Scullard, has had the initials JW' inscribed on his arm.

Matt said: "I am never going to forget Jordan and I wanted this tattoo done as a visual reminder.

"I am sure he would have appreciated all his friends coming out to pay their respects. I will always remember him as one of my best friends.

"He would always come out and it's never going to be the same without him."

Jordan's half brother, Dan Hickman, said that the family would extend an open invitation to friends to attend Jordan's funeral.

It will take place at St Edward's Church in Netley Abbey next Monday at 11am.

Traffic police are still appealing for witnesses to the road accident that happened after Jordan's yellow bike was in collision with a red BMW 3 series car at the junction of Mountbatten Way and West Quay Road on Wednesday at around 7.15am.

The teenager of Woolston Road, Netley Abbey was taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious head injuries but doctors were unable to save him.

Anyone with information about the incident should call Totton Roads Policing Unit on 0845 045 4545.

p A book of condolence for Jordan has been set up at the Daily Echo website at www.dailyecho.co.uk
