A FORMER bakery worker who tried to kiss a girl against her wishes at the door of his flat has been spared a prison sentence.
Mohammad Rasooly, 48, who had been convicted by Southampton Crown Court jurors of sexual assault, received a 12-month community order with six months supervision and an order to carry out 50 hours unpaid community work.
James Newton-Price, defending, said he had come to Britain in 2001 after his family had been killed by the Taliban.
He had since become a UK citizen and had worked at a bakery until his arrest.
Because of his bail restrictions, he had to move to London and lost his job.

guessing the ones knocking the area once again are the ones that live in an area of Southampton that doesn't have killings / drugs / crime or foreigners, I am still looking for that part of Southampton myself.
Really? You think Golden Grove is exactly the same as all other areas of Southampton?
If you've lived here for 32 years you should know that's an utter lie! I've lived here for 6 years and I know the differences and where not to live. Or have there been killings and drug related crimes committed by foreigners mentioned in all areas that I've missed.

What the hell?
Gotta be so careful these days, so if youre thinking of having a spontaneous kiss on a first date, or with someone you feel a connection with - because it happens- make sure u ask permission first. But it will probably completely ruin the moment!

There has to be more to this story than is being reported. 5 years on the sex offenders register for trying to kiss a girl. The world has gone mad otherwise.
Standard practice these days for a conviction of sexual assault, TBH it's normally 10 years on the sex offenders register, the bloke got off lightly.

Last year a man was sent to jail for sexual assault pinched a ladies bottom in a pub, years ago actions although wrong never led to a court case or conviction a slap round the face from the angry woman was normally enough. You're so right you have to be so careful these days, luckily I don't have to worry about things anymore, if I tried to kiss or pinched a woman's bottom, I would face the wrath of my Mrs which would be punishment enough for any man.

A friend of mine was given a written warning by the Civil Service for calling a female college 'mate'.
An 'over familiar term' apparently. Madness.

Not really these days touch any female without permission and it can be classed as assault, if the touching is in certain areas (I'll leave that to the imagination) it is sexual assault so you will go on the register.
Things have changed, don't think of calling a female love or darling it could get you in trouble, what was expectable a generation ago is now a no no

Chapel family born and bred - And rather try my upmost not to venture into the city if I can help it now days.
Golden grove / northam / St Mary's / chapel today is not the same as those of the 70s / 90s.
The London influx and London connection nowadays has dragged it down.

Could not agree more things are constantly changing what is legal and acceptable now may in the future be classed as illegal.
Words and phrases in common use as little as 25-50 years ago are now unacceptable.
What the original post I replied to said there had to be more to the story when there does not have to be, he tried to kiss a female that is now sexual assault when in the past it would not have been.

Not a particularly comprehensive story; Id like to know a little more about the actual incident rather than the death of the mans family or the intricacies of his bail conditions !

Of course he's not going to jail - they let the guy with 100,000 kiddie p0rn images stay on the streets - trying to kiss a girl isn't going to put you away is it?!

Does anyone know the age of the girl? This is THE key piece of information, and is missing. Shockingly poor journalism.

I guess you have a different perspective to that of me and everyone I know, based on what you're used to and limited by what you've experienced. I mean that genuinely. As far as we're all concerned, it's not a place one would want to live. Sorry if that offends you; that's not my intention.

You must have managed to live in ghettos all your life, somehow missing all good areas in between those ghettos.
For one - take Highfield and compare it to St Marys. I lived in Highfield and never in my life have I seen any crack heads, prostitutes, Taliban looking fellows or any other shady characters. When I go to St Marys market I see all of the above in 15 minutes that I spend in that area.
Portswood is full of characters but it is nowhere near as bad as St Marys. In fact there are a few nice places around Portswood.
Southampton has a lot of bad areas, but it also has a lot of good areas! You were born and bred in Southampton and lived here for 32 years and yet you don't seem to know your city as well as people who spent a relatively short time here...

The girl in question was 17 at the time of incident, she was locked in his flat and it was more than just a kiss, the guy had tried to pull her top off, groped her and then forced himself on her.

The girl was 17.
he locked her in his house and tried to assult her. You dont get the turn out her did with just an attempted kiss.
the daily echo have missed A LOT of details and shouldnt have reported this without giving the full story and without the whole truth
