ROBBERS have today seized thousands of pounds worth of cash after raiding a Southampton post office.

The One Stop in Winchester Road remains sealed off after the attack at the bustling shopping parade.

Now police are appealing for witnesses in the wake of the raid which took place during the busy morning period.

Two men stormed into the store at 11.42am and took a large quantity of cash believed to be running into thousands of pounds.

Noone was hurt and witnesses say the men were not believed to be carrying any weapons.

No arrests have been made.

But officers are carrying out enquiries and have sealed off the store while they check for clues.

They are interviewing staff to gain descriptions of the robbers.

Local traders told the Echo they were unsure what had happened.

A police spokesman said: “Enquiries are ongoing and it would not be appropriate to release more details at this early stage of the investigation.”
