A WOMAN has been threatened by a masked man in an attempted robbery at a Hampshire park.

The 53-year-old victim was approached by a man as she was walking her dog on a footpath in Hatch Grange Park, in West End on Wednesday.

The man then threatened the woman as she walked between the Chapel Road and Barbe Baker Avenues entrances.

Two members of the public came to the woman's aid.

Police describe the suspect as white, in his 20s, of slim build, wearing a black hooded top with hood up and orange tassels on hood, cream and beige camouflage trousers and white trainers.

He was wearing a white face covering and carrying a white carrier bag.

The woman was wearing a pink fleecy top and sunglasses Inspector James Douglas said: "This is an isolated offence and not common for the location. Local neighbourhood policing teams are in the area carrying out some house to house enquiries and offering reassurance and advice.”

Police appealed for witnesses to the incident, which happened between 11.30am and 11.50am, or anyone who remembers seeing a woman or man fitting these descriptions at that time.
