A HUGE haul of cannabis worth #10m has been seized from a yacht by Customs officers in Scottish waters.

Two-and-a-half tons of the drug was understood to have been uncovered on the 40ft yacht which was crewed by two Scandinavians.

A Danish woman in her 40s and a Dutchman in his 30s were escorted into Aberdeen yesterday for questioning.

The UK-registered True Love, which had sailed from north Africa, was boarded after an international intelligence operation.

Customs officers made their move around 100 miles east of the Moray Firth early on Saturday.

Two Customs cutters then shadowed the yacht from the North Sea into Aberdeen harbour yesterday afternoon to be met by Grampian Police officers.

The two crew were taken away by police as investigators moved in to examine the white motor yacht.

A senior Customs investigator said last night: ''The Customs cutters Sentinel and Seeker took out the yacht. It's thought two-and-a-half tons of cannabis with a value of around #10m has been seized.

''The crew members will be interviewed by investigators who will now take charge of the inquiry at home and abroad.''

The two crew members are expected to appear in court later this week if charged.

If the seizure is confirmed, it will rate as one of the biggest in Scottish waters.

Six tons of cannabis worth #30m was seized from a tug ordered into Wick last year after sailing from Morocco.

The four Germans involved were later jailed for a total of 28 years at the High Court in Aberdeen.
