POLICE in Strathclyde are hunting a gunman who robbed a female ice cream vendor of a three-figure sum as she sat in her parked van in Abbotsford Road, Hamilton, on Monday night.

The man, who is described as in his twenties, slim, and wearing dark clothing, forced his way into the van brandishing what is believed to be a firearm and demanded the night's takings before fleeing towards the town's Albert Street. The 25-year-old woman was not injured, but the ordeal has left her badly shocked.

Detective Constable Louise Skelton, of Hamilton CID, appealed for anyone who may have seen the robbery or who knows anything about it to come forward before he strikes again.
