Aberdeen's senior Town Sergeant, who is facing theft charges, has been dismissed by Aberdeen City Council.
The Herald revealed in October that Mr Cobban had been suspended having been charged in connection with an alleged theft. He is to deny three charges when he appears in court for trial. Mr Cobban said his union would be helping him fight the dismissal.
