IAN Bruce's report (August 16) clearly outlined the proposed cuts to the Territorial Army in Scotland.

To those of us who have closely followed the progress of the Strategic Defence Review and its associated leaks there are no surprises. The brutal fact is that the Territorial Army in Scotland is about to suffer a major body blow from which I firmly believe it is unlikely to recover. The outcome is, I suspect, the hidden agenda in the Ministry of Defence.

I urge everyone who is interested in maintaining a credible and effective Strategic Reserve for this country to lobby their MP and local councillors. Strong public support is now the only way we can hope to have these cuts reconsidered or reversed.
