CLYDE boss John Brown today admitted that his side's 2-1 victory at St Johnstone last night was a "massive win" in their Irn-Bru First Division survival bid.

A first-half Kevin Bradley strike and 51st-minute trademark Jorg Albertz cannonball free-kick put the battling Bully Wee two up and, with Saints missing two penalties, Barry Wilson's header proved a consolation for the Perth men.

The three-point haul takes the Broadwood side out of the bottom two and into seventh place, 11 points clear of the automatic relegation slot after Stirling went down 3-2 to Dunfermline.

Brown said: "It was a massive three points for us and, although we rode our luck at times, we grafted our socks off.

"St Johnstone will point to their two missed penalties but we got two great goals and ultimately that is what wins you football matches.

"That is two vital goals Jorg has contributed for us and you just never know how crucial these will be at the end of the day.

"The Stirling defeat was a huge plus for us and we have now given ourselves a platform, but the same level of effort and commitment will be required every time now until the end of the season."

In the Third Division, Dumbarton boss Jim Chapman admitted his side had been fortunate to earn a 1-1 draw at East Stirling thanks to David McNaught's 86th-minute equaliser.

Chappie said: "East Stirling would be right to feel hard done by. We seemed to leave our footballing brains in the dressing room.

"But the one thing I can't fault is our application and that earned us a point we can consider ourselves fortunate to have got."
