THE exciting pairing of two of the south coast’s biggest independent music promoters will see a new festival coming to Southampton.

iNDEPENDENCE will see 40 acts perform across the University of Southampton’s students’ union on November 14.

It has been put together by Advance Promotions and Psychedelia – two organisations that have been at the forefront of independent music promotion in Southampton.

Both promoters have been responsible for the likes of The Arctic Monkeys, Mumford & Sons, and Band of Skulls playing to the Southampton masses, while introducing artists such as Bastille, Royal Blood, Temples, and The 1975.

Advance Promotions has been behind the Takedown Festival at the university for the past four years and has teamed up with Psychedelia – promoters of the hugely popular Club Psychedelia nights – to explore the city’s thriving indie and alternative scene.

The line-up will be announced later this year but the festival promises to boast bands and musicians from varying styles and genres, ranging from classic indie to cutting edge alternative.

Tom Dyer, from Psychedelia, said: “The festival is something we have been discussing for some time, so it’s great to see it starting to take shape.

“We are talking with some pretty amazing artists. The line-up announcements will be made in the coming months.

“It’s another testament to a thriving city and music scene.’’
