IT was a virtual design that became very real for one Southampton schoolboy.

For hours eight year old Lewis Vincent toiled away creating his very own cruise ship using a construction-themed computer program called Minecraft.

Inspired by the Royal Caribbean cruise line new Quantum class of liners Lewis crafted his own dream ship complete with helicopter rides for passengers and a rollercoaster on deck.

Royal Caribbean bosses were so impressed when they saw the design posted on their social networking site they organised their own treat for Lewis.

With the help of Gadget Show presenter Jason Bradbury, cruise officials surprised Lewis at his school where they presented the ship-mad eight year old with his own cruise and framed print of his design.

Lewis and his family were bowled over to hear they will be among the first guests on board the Anthem of the Seas for its pre-inaugural sailing later this month.

Jason said:"I think it is great it must be exciting being a kid in Southampton it has so much heritage in terms of the docks and ships. It is easy to see why he is inspired by that.

"What I love is how he has used a digital platform to express himself and design his own ship."

Also on hand to see Jason get the surprise visit was his parents Aaron and Emily Vincent.

Aaron, 44 from Midanbury who works as a shift worker at Sainsbury's in Hedge End wasn't surprised by his son's achievements.

He said: “Minecraft really helps him use his imagination. He is very methodical he has always paid a lot of attention to detail and is a serious thinker it is a great way for him to channel that creativity. We are so proud of him.”
