THE boss of yachting legend Ellen MacArthur’s charity will be swapping boats for a pair of trainers as he takes on the London Marathon.

Frank Fletcher, 44, will join the 35,000 runners taking on the gruelling 26-mile race – and naturally he’s chosen to race money for the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust.

Mr Fletcher applied to race in last year’s event, but injury forced him to pull out But this year he’s back at full fitness and is now determined to complete the epic race.

He has so far raised a whopping £5,000 for the charity, which helps children recovering from cancer through sailing.

Mr Fletcher, from Cowes, said: “During my eight months of training approximately 1,340 young people and their families have been given the devastating and life-changing news that they have been diagnosed with cancer, they had no choice.

“Currently the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust can only work with about 134 of those 1340; in a very small way I hope my Marathon can help change that.”
