THERE will not be an inquest into the death of a sporty schoolgirl, it has been confirmed.

Allegra Whittome, 16, died suddenly in February after falling ill and pulling out of a sport competition hours before it was due to start.

The central Hampshire coroner in Winchester was informed and an investigation was carried out.

A spokesman has confirmed that pathologists at Salisbury District Hospital found she died of natural causes and therefore an inquest will not be carried out.

Allegra was a Year 11 pupil at St Swithun’s School in Winchester and a competitive athlete competing on behalf of Winchester and District Athletics Club.

In 2013 she raised money for the Little Princess Trust charity when she had 12 inches of her hair cut off.

In a statement in February, Allegra’s family, of Lower Wield in Alresford, said: “Allegra was the most perfect daughter and sister that anyone could imagine. She was always smiling and full of enthusiasm for life.

“She loved sport, animals and her friends and family.

“Nothing will ever replace her.”
