A THIEF who stole thousands of pounds worth of Lego from a Hampshire supermarket has been ordered to pay more than £2,000 in compensation.

Craig Bradley was the focus of a manhunt by police after a string of thefts from an Asda store in Fareham, in which he targeted the shop's display of children's Lego.

The 30-year-old was captured on CCTV several times as he fled from the store in Speedfields Park, carrying boxes worth hundreds of pounds each time.

Officers started to build a case against the serial thief and Crimestoppers received several calls from the public after the image showing his face was released as part of their appeal.

Bradley, of Hewitt Close, Fareham, was soon arrested by police and charged with five counts of theft from a shop, between December 16 last year and February 13.

Daily Echo:

Portsmouth Magistrates Court heard that the total amount of Lego he stole over that period totalled £2,034, taking both generic boxes and themed boxes.

Magistrates were also told that he stole two Panasonic televisions worth £258.

He was ordered to complete 40 hours of unpaid work and pay £2,293.41 in compensation.
