TWO people arrested in connection with the death of a 67-year-old man have been released without charge.

Police launched a murder enquiry after the body of the man, named locally as Peter Thompson, was discovered in East Church Close, Lordshill, Southampton, by officers.

However, after reviewing all the evidence police said officers were satisfied the death was not suspicious.

Police were called to the property on Friday morning.

Hampshire Police spokeswoman added: “Further work is ongoing to establish the exact cause of death.

“Enquiries are still ongoing to trace all next of kin.”

Mr Thompson is said to have lived at the address for several years. Neighbours told the Daily Echo that he had been in poor health and rarely left his ground-floor flat.

A post-mortem on Saturday reported inconclusive findings and more tests were due to be carried out.
