THE GLITZ and glamour of Strictly is waltzing its way to Hampshire.

After living her very own Strictly Come Dancing dream, charity hero Heather Parsons is making it her mission to give others the chance step onto the ballroom floor and get a taste of the magical journey she enjoyed.

Determined to share her once-in-a-lifetime experience, the People's Strictly star is launching Southampton Does Strictly - a night full of sequins, dancing and some familiar faces from the world's most famous ballroom.

With professional dancers Ian Waite, who was Heather's partner on the People's Strictly, and Joanne Clifton, plus former Strictly contestant Russell Grant - it promises to be a fab-u-lous event.

Heather hopes it will not only allows others to step into the Strictly bubble, but also raise thousands of pounds for her charity Where There's a Will, which supports the families of critically ill patients in intensive care at Southampton General Hospital.

But to make it a success, the mum-of-one from Romsey needs the help of Daily Echo readers - to find three male dancers.

The event, which will be held at the Hilton at the Ageas Bowl, will see ten members of the public take to the dance floor, having been training over the two months with a dance teacher from the region.

They will face the judging panel made up of Ian, Joanne, Russell and Mike Pattie, who was also on the People's Strictly for Comic Relief.

As well as the dancing, the night, on July 5, will include a three course meal, an auction and a special performance by Heather and Ian.

But with ten contestants ready and seven dance teachers already signed up, Heather desperately needs three more male dance teachers who can partner three of the female contestants.

Heather, 53, said: “Doing the People's Strictly was the most amazing thing to be involved with and everybody I met was jealous and wished they could have done that.

“So I wanted to share my journey and give other people the chance to have a taste of that wonderful experience. And to have the support of Strictly's Ian, Joanne and Russell is fantastic.

“But to make it happen we need the help of three more male dancers, who can partner out wonderful female contestants.”

Heather decided to launch the event at Sainsbury's in Hedge End, the venue where she got the surprise of her life when she was confronted by scores of dancers and told she had been chosen to take part in the People's Strictly due to her endless charity work, following her own near death experience.

As well as three more male dancers, Heather is also looking for sponsorship for various aspects of the event, and to raise enough money ahead of the night so some of the patients helped by the charity can have a table at the event.

Tickets cost £50 or £450 for a table, or £75 for VIP tickets. To buy your tickets or if you can help with sponsorship or partnering the final three contestants email Heather at wheretheresawillcharity@gmail.com.
