A ONCE neglected corner of a Hampshire school has been transformed thanks to the hard work of its community.

Lydlynch Infant School celebrated the opening of their garden and nature area which was the brainchild of the Home School Association and supported by the Totton Allotments and Gardens Association with donations from McDonalds and HSBC along with hosting a number of fundraisers, all overseen by site manager Andy Edmonds

The aim was to develop garden and nature area for generations of children and inspire them to grow their own produce and develop an understanding of healthy diet and lifestyle.

Headteacher, Kate Lane said: "The area will be used throughout the school day to support learning and we are launching Gardening Club in June. We are hoping to inspire future generations to develop a love of nature and the outdoors as well as an understanding of how food is grown and produced.’
