One of the team behind the  inaugural Common People has signalled the two day festival will be back next year.

Thirty-five thousand revellers converged on The Common for two days of entertainment put on by the masterminds behind Bestival and Camp Bestival.

And it was a weekend for Southampton to remember.

Revellers enjoyed beautiful sunshine and tunes from world-class musicians.

With hundreds of brightly coloured flags and stages for different tastes, Common People was just as much a feast for the eyes as it was the ears.

Punters of all ages could be seen soaking up the sunshine, from families with young children to groups of friends in their 20s, 30s and beyond.

Now organiser Rob Da Bank has said the extravaganza may not be a one off.

Organiser Rob Da Bank said: “Wow! What a weekend this has been.

"It really has been fantastic. See you next year on your beautiful Common!"

He added: “To see so many people out and about having fun in my home town of Southampton has been magic.

"Thousands of people bouncing to Fatboy Slim, Grace Jones and De La Soul and having the time of their lives, hundreds of families getting in the party spirit and a safe and happy festival vibe.

"We want to say a massive thank you to everyone who came along and made our first Common People festival a huge success.

“And we especially want to say thanks for the huge amount of support we’ve received locally. It really has been fantastic. See you next year on your beautiful Common!”

The main stage saw sets from Grace Jones, De La Soul, Clean Bandit, Years and Years, Slaves and Jaguar Skills – who set tongues wagging on Saturday with his quick-firing set.

Southampton band The Novatones, DJ Yoda and George the Poet also graced the main stage.

There was even a slot by former breakfast TV fitness guru Mr Motivator.

The Uncommon stage saw the best of local talent – handpicked at a competition at The Joiners in Southampton including Winchester band Wild Smiles.

The Astoria lounge/cocktail bar had people dancing all weekend with old school favourites.

For those that wanted to dance all weekend, the Big Top had sets from Huxley, Dusky, Friend Within, Secondcity and Southampton’s own Foor.
